emerytowany nauczyciel akademicki Instytutu Historii i Archiwistyki Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu, znakomity badacz kultury i cywilizacji wczesnego średniowiecza, dyrektor Instytutu Historii i Archiwistyki w latach 1966 - 1972,

członek konspiracji wojennej, działacz opozycji antykomunistycznej. Żegnamy zasłużonego dydaktyka i wychowawcę wielu pokoleń historyków.

Rektor i Senat Uniwersytetu Mikołaja Kopernika w Toruniu

Ceremonia pogrzebowa odbędzie się 4 grudnia 2015 r. w Toruniu. na cmentarzu św. Jerzego przy ul. Gałczyńskiego.
