Absolwent Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego z roku 1952. Nestor łódzkiego środowiska chemików.
W latach 1975-1981 Rektor UŁ.
Doktor Honoris Causa Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego.
Do ostatnich dni życia aktywnie uczestniczył w pracach Rady Wydziału Chemii.

Pozostanie w naszej pamięci, jako osoba wielce zasłużona dla rozwoju środowiska akademickiego w Łodzi
i Wychowawca wielu pokoleń młodzieży studiującej w Uniwersytecie Łódzkim.
