DANUTA PIEKARSKA zmarła 14.04.2007 roku. Była absolwentką filologii polskiej na UAM w Poznaniu, do końca swych dni pracowała jako dziennikarka ,,Gazety Lubuskiej". Z redakcją związana była od początku swej zawodowej kariery. Pracowała w Gorzowie i w Zielonej Górze (tu pełniła też funkcję kierownika działu kultury). Była bardzo rzetelnym, dociekliwym reporterem, recenzentem. Zawsze zadawała sobie pytanie: dlaczego? I szukała wszędzie odpowiedzi. Przed oddaniem do druku kilkakrotnie czytała swój tekst, nanosząc poprawki. Zawsze miała czas na rozmowy i dobre rady dla młodych dziennikarzy. Nie szczędziła ciepłych słów. Pustka, powstała po jej stracie, jest nie do zapełnienia.
