syna Powstańca Wielkopolskiego,

którego młodość i początki pracy duszpasterskiej związane były z Wielkopolską.

Tu ukończył studia filozoficzne i teologiczne.

W Bazylice Prymasowskiej w Gnieźnie otrzymał święcenia kapłańskie.

Później odwiedzał ją wielokrotnie, co roku przyjeżdżał do Gniezna na uroczystości ku czci Świętego Wojciecha.

Odejście Księdza Kardynała to wielka strata dla Kościoła, Narodu i Polski.
